When working with an external monitor, Mac OS X tends to leave some windows off-screen sometimes. There are several tricks to get them back (see this StackOverflow Q&A) that might or might not work in all situations. Especially these inspector windows are pretty difficult to get back.

To solve this, I took Apple's example application UIElementInspector and modified it to include a list of all opened apps and their windows. I further added a button "Bring Window Home" which sets the location of the selected to {50px, 50px}.

To use this app, the preference "Enable access for assistive devices" has to be enabled. Step-by-step instructions on how to do this are found here.
